Departing from Melbourne

It's possible to fly to Hanoi from both Avalon and Tullamarine airports, although the vast majority of flights leave from Tullamarine.

If you're flying from Tullamarine, make your way to Terminal 2, which is where all international flights depart.

Hanoi arrivals

Noi Bai International Airport serves Hanoi. It's 30km from the Vietnamese capital, which takes 25 minutes in a taxi.

Expect to pay 350,000 dong for a licensed taxi, but be aware that unlicensed drivers are likely to approach you in the terminal. Always check that your fare includes toll fees.

Public buses and shuttle services are also available from the airport. These are 1/10th of the price of a taxi, but leave less frequently and take longer to reach the city centre.

The international terminal is modern with plenty of facilities, but many of the shops and restaurants will close by 11pm.
