Some car rental operators allow you to bring the car over to Malaysia, but may require you to bring it back to Singapore. Be sure to enquire with the operator about this, especially if you are planning day trips to nearby areas in Malaysia. What to expect when hiring a car from Singapore City

The rush hours in Singapore runs around 8:00AM to 9:30AM and 6:00PM to 7:30PM, the main commuting hours in the city. You will have to schedule your trips outside these hours, so you would be on time for appointments. The traffic can be bad in the Central Business District and around the major public buildings and landmarks. There are Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges in some roads, which aim to prevent traffic congestion during peak hours at various roads. The electronic mechanism deducts a fee from a cash card fit into the in-vehicle unit (UI), which makes it easier to pay up the fees.

It can be relatively easy to navigate in Singapore, as nearly all road signs are in English, except for some road names that have Malay origins. Multilingual road sings in historically ethnic areas like Chinatown can also be found. The road network is in good condition, making the traffic flow efficient and orderly. It is also important to make sure that you are following the traffic regulations, as the traffic police can be strict in implementing them. You should also be careful when driving with the occasional cyclist on the side of the road. Parking can additionally be expensive, so you should look for establishments offering free parking or Park and Ride facilities that offer rates fit for your budget.

Getting to your destination

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve
The district of Kranji is Singapore's rural hinterland and one of the best places to check out the wildlife in the city-state. Herons, monitor lizards, snakes, and otters are some of the creatures to be seen here, as well as migratory birds from China or Siberia if you visit between September and March.

About 40 minutes away from the city in good traffic, continue to MCE and take PIE and BKE to Turf Club Avenue in Singapore. Take exit 8 from BKE and then take Kranji Rd to New Tiew Cres to reach your destination. Along the way are toll roads, with limited parking opportunities available in the outskirts of the park.

Away from the city centre at around 25 minutes, the roads going to this part of Singapore require tolls. You can get here, if you come from CTE from across Cross St and Upper Cross St. Continue on CTE to Ang Mo Kio Ave 5 and then take exit 12B from CTE.
