Departing from Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai Airport (CNX) is the principal airport in the city of Chiang Mai. This is a convenient facility with a good variety of amenities. These include information desks, cash machines, currency exchange booths, an executive lounge, duty-free shops, and mobile charging stations. You can also take advantage of the numerous food concessions found here, or relax instead at one of the airport’s spas.
There are two terminals at Chiang Mai, and you can walk between these.
Arrive at the airport at least 1 hour ahead of your departure time.
Arriving in Bangkok
Bangkok has two important aviation facilities, the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and the Don Mueang International Airport (DMK). Flights from Chiang Mai are directed to both airports, and you can access free WiFi, public telephones, ATMs, bureau de change services, VIP lounges and information points. You can also spend time in the many restaurants, bars, and shops that are located in the concourses of both airports.
You’ll find that the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport has a single terminal, and the Don Mueng International Airport has two terminals, and passengers can make the transfer between them on a provided shuttle service.
A taxi fare is around 300-500THB ($11-19) and from either airport a journey into town can take from 30 minutes to an hour and a half depending on the traffic. An airport transfer is easy to arrange if you want to save money and still take private transportation.
A car rental can be done in the airports’ arrivals areas, or online and in advance.
