Flying With Thai AirAsia

Thai AirAsia comes under the umbrella of the Malaysian AirAsia Group, and operates domestic and international routes from its base in Bangkok. Established in 2003, Thai AirAsia is one of the region’s most popular low-cost carriers, and flies to destinations across Asia, as well as Australia, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia.

Why Fly With Thai Air Asia?

Ways To Check-In

Thai AirAsia allows you to check in a number of ways; you can check in online from seven days up to four hours before departure. Though please note, if you are travelling on a web boarding pass, you will need to validate it at the self-check in kiosks within the airport. If you would rather check in at the airport in person, then there will be staffed desks ready and waiting. Please leave at least an hour to check in if you are travelling domestically, and two hours for international flights.

You can choose or change your seat when you check in for your flight.

Baggage Allowances & Fees

Passengers can carry on a cabin bag that comes to measurements of 56cm x 36cm x 23cm, but must weigh no more than 7kg.

All passengers, unless there are Business Class seats offered, must pay for each piece they take onto the plane. Categories for flights can be bought in 15/20/25/30/40kg weights. Excess baggage will be subject to charges.

Booking Fees/Payment Methods

Thai Air Asia accepts multiple payment modes. For credit card payment, Air Asia accepts Visa, MasterCard, UnionPay or American Express. However, American Express credit cards can only be accepted for payments in MYR, THB, USD, AUD, SGD, and HKD while Union Pay is only accepted for THB. For customers transacting in AUD, you can consider paying via PayPal. If you’re paying in Thai baht, you can use direct debit via Suam Commerical Bank or GHL Thai Debit. Air Asia charges a processing fee for payment via credit, debit, charge or direct debit. It is levied on new flight bookings or flight amendments and is charged per guest per way. A booking fee is also imposed, with these fees and charges varying depending on your flight route. Make use of Air Asia’s fee & charges calculator to find out the relevant handling and service fees.

In-Flight Services

The AirAsia Group strives to make their low-cost service as appealing as possible, and one of the ways they do this is by providing their passengers with access to entertainment like TV shows, games, and movies on the airline’s Samsung Galaxy Tabs provided on all flights flying to and from Australia.

For meals, if you are on a flight that is over 75 minutes, you will have a choice of snacks and hot meals that you can pre-book and pay for when you are buying your flights.

The AirAsia Group as a whole does not offer an Unaccompanied Minor service, and any child under the age of 12 will not be allowed to travel on a Thai AirAsia flight. Please ensure that if your child is between the ages of 12 and 16 that they bring proof of age so that they can board the plane without fuss.
