Your Departure Airport

Emerald Airport (EMD)

Departing from: Emerald Airport only has one main terminal that all flights are directed to.

Emerald Airport has undergone many revamps since it was first opened in 1920, but this is still a very small regional airport. You will find short and long term parking facilities available if you are planning to drive to the airport, and a small kiosk offering snacks and refreshments, but that is the sum of its parts. If you want any banking or postal services, we recommend you utilise those in town before departing, or taking advantage of Brisbane’s well-equipped airport on arrival.

Your Destination Airport

Brisbane Airport (BNE)

Arriving in: Domestic Terminal

Passengers flying from Emerald will find that Brisbane Airport is a large, well-facilitated airport. There lots of food outlets and snack bars to grab refreshments from, ATMs, a visitor information centre and free WiFi for up to 3 hours (please note, you must be on the Level 2 retail area to connect).

Transport

The taxi rank is right outside the Domestic Terminal. A journey into downtown Brisbane will cost you about $45. There are airport bus transfers operated by Con-X-ion, which cost $15 per person for a door-to-door service from the airport to your hotel. Passengers can also choose to take the Airtrain, which is pricier than the bus transfer, but this service is very fast, and children under 14 travel for free.

If you’re looking to hire a car, head to Level 1 in the Domestic Terminal, where all the rental company desks can be found.

Do you need a form of identification?

Though this is a domestic flight, you must carry photo identification with you. This can be a social security card, a driver’s license or your passport. Please note: if you are an international traveller flying within Australia, it is recommended that you use your passport as your primary form of identification.

How long should you leave to get to the airport?

As this is a domestic flight departing and arriving in domestic terminals, it is recommended that you check in at least 45-60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please be aware that if you are travelling in a group, or are going on to a connecting flight, that you arrive 90-120 minutes before departure time.
