Arriving in: There is only one main terminal that services all flights to OOL.

Flying into the Gold Coast Airport (OOL) is extremely convenient. It is well stocked in facilities and passengers will find it a nice airport to transit through. There are high street retail shops like French Connection and the Sunglasses Hut, as well as a variety of options for cuisine, including Red Rooster and Sumo Salad. Other amenities include access to free wireless internet and a currency exchange service.

Transport

Find the taxi rank just outside the terminal. Be warned, this can be a fairly expensive way to travel, the Gold Coast is spread down a long stretch of the coastline and getting from one end to the other can be quite pricey. A taxi from OOL Airport to the most popular part of the coast—Surfer’s Paradise—will cost between £35-60 depending on traffic. Shuttles will run you door-to-door for a one-way cost of $21. The 761 and 777 public buses also run to the Broadbeach Tram Station (which can connect you to Surfer’s Paradise and Southport) for a fraction of the price of a taxi or shuttle.

For care hire, there are rental desks located right by the Domestic Arrivals exit, near baggage claim.

Though this is a domestic flight, you must carry photo identification with you. This can be a social security card, a driver’s license or your passport. Weather: The Gold Coast has one of the most temperate climates in Australia. It can be hotter than Port Macquarie in the summer (despite being further south), but its winters are a little cooler. You’ll find highs are around 28°C in the summer, which is hot, with occasional summer downpours. The best time to visit the Gold Coast tends to be in the autumn (March-May) when the weather is dry, and the average temperature is a pleasant 25°C.

The Gold Coast is the cheaper destination out of the two, but not by a long way. If you’re looking to have a meal out on the Gold Coast, a mid-range restaurant will serve two people a three course meal for around $70-75.
