The best airport to choose will depend on which London airport you want to fly from, and which Venice airport you wish to fly into (there are two in the area).

Monarch, Tui, British Airways, EasyJet, and Ryanair are the main airlines offering direct cheap airfares to Venice from London, as well as airlines including Qatar Airways, Alitalia, Swiss, Lufthansa and KLM offering indirect routes. London has a large airport network servicing the area, and most of its main airports offer indirect or direct flights to Venice. For more information about specific flight routes, see the links below:

Venice has two main airports  - Venice Marco Polo, for international flights, and Venice Treviso Airport (officially called Treviso-Sant'Angelo Airport), which is mostly for low-cost carriers.

If you’re flying into Marco Polo Airport, the airport is located approximately 8km from the city centre of Venice, where most hotels in Venice are located. Transport into the Venice city centre is available by water taxi, which makes stops in Venice at San Marco (a 1 hour and 12 minute journey), Rialto (57 minute journey), Fondamenta Nuove (38 minute journey) and Le Guglie (42 minutes).

When exiting the arrivals hall, follow the covered walkway for approximately 7 minutes until you reach the dock where the water bus operates from. There are also shuttle buses operated by ACTV and ATVO AIR TERMINAL shuttle, and the journey time to Venice city centre is around 20-25 minutes.

If you prefer to rent a car from Venice Marco Polo Airport, then you can pick up your vehicle (whether you have prebooked or not) from the P1 parking area (exit the Airport Arrivals area, and look for the covered walkway on the left and follow signs to the P1 parking).

For those flying into Venice Treviso Airport, the airport is further away from the Venice city centre than Marco Polo Airport, but still around 31km away. In terms of transport from the airport into Venice, buses are available from the company ATVO, and travel directly to Piazzale Roma in Venice's city centre. You can also take an ACTT line 6 to Treviso railway station where you can then catch a train to Venezia Santa Lucia (the train station right in the heart of Venice city centre).

You can also hire a car from Venice Treviso Airport if you prefer to continue your journey by road.

Other important information to note:

  • Time difference between London and Venice - Venice is 1 hour ahead of London, and this is consistent during all months of the year.
  • Consumer price differences between London and Venice - Those travelling to Venice from London will find that prices are much cheaper there than in London overall, by an average of 15%.
