Departing from Mumbai
Mumbai Airport (BOM) is India's 2nd busiest airport after New Delhi. It uses 2 terminals:
- Terminal 1 for domestic flights
- Terminal 2 for international flights
Flights to Phuket leave from Terminal 2, unless you're taking a domestic connection first. The terminal has plenty of shopping and dining options, free Wi-Fi and other facilities you may need before your flight, as well as lounges for members.
The airport is just over 20 minutes from the centre of Mumbai by car in normal traffic. You should aim to get there 3 hours before your flight time, as security checks can sometimes involve delays.
Arriving in Phuket
Phuket Airport (HKT) is Thailand's busiest airport outside of Bangkok. International flights arrive at Terminal 2. If you're taking a domestic connection from Bangkok, this will arrive in Terminal 3. Both terminals have the essential facilities travellers may need when entering the country, including ATMs and banks to exchange money, food and drink and car hire agencies.
The airport is in the north of the island, far away from most hotels. A taxi can cost around 700 baht or even more, while a minibus can be cheaper at around 130 baht. These drop passengers off at all popular resort areas.
