Moranbah is a mining town located on the Peak Downs Highway between Mackay and Clermont. It is one of the youngest towns in Queensland, and was specifically created to cater to miners and their families. Today, Moranbah has a newly refurbished town centre and is home to more than 8,000 people.

Brisbane airport departure information
On the day of your travel from Brisbane to Moranbah, make sure you leave enough time so that you arrive at the airport at least half an hour before your flight. You’ll also want to have a form of identification on you, such as a passport or a driver’s licence.
To get to the airport in Brisbane, a distance of around 12km from the centre of the city, you can drive yourself and take advantage of the various parking options on site. Choose either valet parking, or short-term or long-term parking, with both undercover and open-air lots available. Alternatively, you may opt to park at one of nearby airport parking facilities that are located in surrounding suburbs. These sites have shuttle buses which run customers to and from the terminals at multiple times during the day.
There are also other transport options available between the city centre of Brisbane and the airport. You may prefer to hail a taxi; book a private car transfer; hop on a public bus service from in or around the city; or utilise the Airtrain, which runs every 15 minutes during peak times.
While you wait for your flight to Moranbah to depart from Brisbane, you can while away some time shopping up a storm, or eating and drinking. At the airport you’ll find many facilities, such as a variety of coffee shops, restaurants, and bars, and a food court. Furthermore, the terminal boasts a number of franchise and boutique shops, plus newsagencies, ATMs, water fountains, and bathrooms.

Moranbah is just a small, regional airport and as such does not have a large number of facilities for passengers to take advantage of when they arrive. The terminal does, however, boast a cafe, as well as toilets and baby change rooms, and was recently upgraded (2012) so is comfortably furnished and quite modern.
To get from the airport into the CBD, your options are to take a taxi, get on a bus, or rent a car for the duration of your stay in Moranbah. If you wish to book in advance (always a good idea since it can save you money and ensure you don’t miss out on a vehicle) you can arrange a car rental online using Skyscanner. The airport is located around 10kms from the city, a distance which takes around 8-10 minutes to complete.

Being a regional town, Moranbah tends to be a little less expensive than Brisbane. For example, the price of a taxi to or from the airport into the city centre is $45 to $50 in Brisbane, but only around $25 in Moranbah. Similarly, the average cost of a meal at an inexpensive restaurant in Brisbane is $20, but typically a little less in Moranbah.
