Flying from Port Lincoln to Adelaide Airport is short and sweet. You’ll find the PLO airport lacks a lot of amenities, but it will cover your basic needs; there is an ATM in the terminal and a café that offers food and drink if you are feeling peckish before you fly.

When you fly from Port Lincoln to Adelaide, you’ll find that the airport in South Australia’s capital is far more comprehensive. There is access to free WiFi throughout the terminal, as well as postal services, ATMS, a currency exchange service as well as a few different food outlets to choose from.

Transport

The taxi rank is located just outside of the terminal, left of the pedestrian plaza. The journey will cost approximately $20-25 to get into downtown.

Adelaide Metro runs the JetExpress public transportation service into the city centre. You can take these buses from Stop 10 on Airport Road, on the South East Side.

If you want to rent a car, you can find car hire companies on the terminal’s ground level, next to baggage claim.

Though this is a domestic flight, you must carry photo identification with you. This can be a social security card, a driver’s license or your passport. Please note: if you are an international traveller flying within Australia, it is recommended that you use your passport as your primary form of identification.

How long should you leave to get to the airport?

As this is a domestic flight departing and arriving in domestic terminals, it is recommended that you check in at least 45-60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please be aware that if you are travelling in a group, or are going on to a connecting flight, that you arrive 90-120 minutes before departure time.

Weather: Port Lincoln and Adelaide share very similar climates, being so closely situated on Australia’s southern coast.  Winters are mild, but wet, with average lows being around 7-8°C. However, the summers in Adelaide are warmer than those in Port Lincoln, and can hit highs of up to 29°C mid-season.

Adelaide is more expensive on the whole than Port Lincoln, especially when it comes to rent and transportation. However, the South Australian capital is far cheaper than Port Lincoln if you fancy a meal out, with a three course meal at a mid-range restaurant for two costing only $80 on average.
