Manchester Airport is the third busiest in the UK, and has a range of excellent and comprehensive facilities. There is also a good choice of restaurants and bars, and a variety of gift shops, convenience stores and fashion retailers you can while away your waiting time in before you board your flight.

Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) services the main city of the island, Denpasar.  The services in this airport are quite good, there are banks and a bureau de change, as well as a variety of shops you can browse in and eateries where you can grab a snack on your way out.

Transport

You can book a taxi from the official taxi counter in the Arrival Hall of the airport. A full list of prices can be found here, but depending on where you are going, the rates tend to be between 45,000-195,000R ($4.5-19). There are also public buses, but the timetables of these can be erratic and it is best to check upon arrival at the information counter, what time they leave and how much they cost.

If you’d rather rent a car, there are several car hire companies that operate in DPS. These include Avis, Hertz and Europcar.

Yes. This is an international flight, so you are required to carry your passport with you.

How long should you leave to get to the airport?

As this is an international flight, it is recommended that you check in at least 90-120 minutes before the scheduled departure time for this portion of the flight. Please be aware that if you are travelling in a group, or are going on to a connecting flight, that you must arrive 120 minutes before departure time.

Time difference:  Denpasar in Bali is eight hours ahead of Manchester.

Weather: It’s best to visit Bali in the dry season, the driest months being April, May, June and September, where the temperatures average a pleasant 26-27°C.

Bali is far cheaper than Manchester, and if you are eating in the main city of Denpasar, you will find that a three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant will come to a very reasonable 250,000IDR ($25).
