Departing from Lord Howe Island
Lord Howe Island Airport (LDH) is the only airport on the island. As there is no public transport on the island, your accommodation should arrange transfers to and from the airport for you, or you can hire a bicycle from town. You should aim to arrive at least 1 hour before flights to Sydney so you don't miss check-in and have to extend your stay.
The small terminal has very limited facilities. If you need to get something to eat, to use an ATM or access the internet, you should do these before going to the airport or wait until you land in Sydney.
Arriving in Sydney
Sydney Airport (SYD), also called Sydney Kingsford Smith, is Australia's busiest airport. Qantas domestic flights arrive at Terminal 3. This shares a train station with Terminal 2 for convenient transport to the city centre in 13 minutes, but you'll have to pay an access fee on top of the ticket price.
Other options for getting from the airport to Sydney CBD are taking the 400 bus, a taxi for $45-$60 or car hire from a number of agencies. It takes 25 minutes to reach the city centre in normal traffic.
