Terminal Information

Edinburgh Airport operates its flights in a single terminal building. The terminal has two storeys where the ground floor has the terminal’s 47 check-in desks as well as a number of service counters and shops. The upper level meanwhile houses security control, a central airside waiting area with some shops and 11 departure gates. There are also 11 additional gates in the connected pier located to the east of the main terminal.

Upon arrival in London Heathrow Airport, you will pass through Terminal 2 or 5, depending on the assigned landing point of your flight. You will then line up for Passport Control first, and then follow signs for Arrivals to come to the Baggage Reclaim area. Look for your flight on the information screens, so you will find out when your bags are ready and the carousel number to get them from. You can then turn to the UK Customs before entering the public arrivals area.

Various transport options are offered in London Heathrow Airport, such as the Heathrow Express, which makes the fastest way to travel to London Paddington in the centre of the city. Travelling by tube is also possible, with the Piccadilly line the transport route for travellers. The National Express also runs frequent coach services between Heathrow's central bus station and Victoria Coach Station. Buses are also available between 11:30 pm and 5:00 am, depending on the day of the week. Taxis can also be considered, especially if you have a lot of baggage. Rental cars are additionally available in the airport, which you can pre-book for your trip.

Practical Information

On the day of your departure, be sure to arrive early for your flight. You can check-in with a cabin bag only or with a hold baggage in the traditional way or try any of the methods provided by your airline. Virgin Atlantic, for instance, also offers mobile check-ins, which can be convenient when you need to hurry with the check-in process. Mobile check-in and self-service check-in is also available.
