Jeju International Airport (CJU)

Departing from: the main terminal building.

The second largest airport in South Korea, Jeju International Airport handles millions of passengers each year. Your Destination Point

Seoul is serviced by two major transport hubs, these are:

Gimpo International Airport (GMP)

Incheon International Airport (ICN)

Gimpo (GMP) is the main airport in the city for domestic flights, though Incheon (ICN) also services some domestic routes. For more information on each airport, please go to the destination airport pages for specific information on the terminal facilities and local sites.

Transport

GMP: This airport is much closer than the newer international airport Incheon, and so the prices into downtown Seoul reflect that. Expect a taxi into the centre of town to cost upwards of 30,000KRW ($33). There are public transportation options, via the subway lines 5 and 9, which take around half an hour to get into the city and cost between 1000-2000KRW ($1.10-2.20).

ICN: You can find taxis right outside the terminals, which come in different sizes and classifications, but the journey into the city generally takes 50 minutes and costs between 45,000-80,000KRW ($50-90). There are excellent public transport links; you can take the Airport Railroad Express straight to the main station, taking only 60 minutes and costing about 4000KRW ($4.50).

There are also city buses (Routes 111 and 303), but you’ll find that though the bus offers the cheapest way into town, with fares starting at 2800KRW ($3), it is also the slowest means of transport.

Both GMP and ICN have car hire rental desks within their terminal buildings.

Do you need a form of identification?

Yes, you cannot travel on a flight without some form of ID. For ease, it is best to bring your passport with you, especially if you are an international traveller.

How long should you leave to get to the airport?

Typical recommendations for check-in times are between 45-60 minutes before your flight is due to depart. Please be aware that this can be longer if you are flying with a large party.

Things you need to know

Time difference: None.

Weather: Korea has very distinct yearly seasons, experiencing spring, summer, autumn and winter. The best times to visit are usually spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) when the weather is mild and not plagued by the hot summer monsoons. In these shoulder seasons you can expect temperatures to average between 16-20°C.

Though Seoul is by far the most expensive city for living costs, if you’re eating out the difference is negligible. A three-course dinner in town, for two people at a mid-range restaurant will run a bill of about 40,000KRW ($45).
