Cheap flights from US Virgin Islands

The United States Virgin Islands are a group of islands in the Caribbean that are an insular area of the United States. Geographically a part of the Virgin Islands archipelago, the territory is located in the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. The US Virgin Islands consist of the main islands of Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas, along with the much smaller but historically distinct Water Island, and many other surrounding islets. The total land area of the territory is 133.73 square miles, with its capital and largest city called Charlotte Amalie. The US Virgin Islands is popular for its white sand beaches and its West Indian culture – an addicting mix of fun and fancy-free leisure. The islands are frequented by Americans who are after the rum, the reggae, and the real party scene.

Where to go

St. Thomas – One of the main islands in the territory, St. Thomas boasts of jungle-filled cliffs that touch the sky, red-hipped roofs that bloom like fresh flowers over the hills, and turquoise sea laps that are frequented by lazy yachts. It is the home of Charlotte Amalie, the territory's capital, and is the main place for those who want to just wine, dine, and relax. When visiting the island, do not miss out on Red Hook and the island's East End, the Water Island, and main Charlotte Amalie.

Blackbeard's Castle – Set atop the Government Hill in Charlotte Amalie, Blackbeard's Castle is a five-storey masonry watchtower, which was said to be the lookout post of pirate Edward Teach, alias Blackbeard, in the 18th century. After visiting this tower in the sky, drop by the nearby Britannia House and the Haagensen House – two colonial homes furnished with West Indian antiques and a jewellery shop. There is also a nearby rum factory from here.

Havensight – Havensight is one of the many picturesque villages in Charlotte Amalie, which was previously a bustling steamship wharf and coaling station. Today, it was transformed into a touristy neighbourhood – with a compound filled with shops, restaurants, and the proud Havensight Mall.
