Hersonissos also has its share of charming beaches and its streets are lined with tourist shops and myriad restaurants of diverse styles. Attractions here include two water parks, the Aquaworld Aquarium and the Lychnostatis Open Air Museum. For a quieter time, head south to traditional villages such as Koutouloufari.

Turkey sits east of Greece and takes about 2 hours by air. Besides unique food such as kebabs and Sac Kavurma, Turkey is also religious country with plenty of exquisite mosques. Also, find elaborate statues of heads on the mystical Mount Nemrut and a temple at its peak commemorating King Antiochos I of the Hellenistic period. For animal lovers, visit the Istanbul Aquarium to see over 1500 land and marine species.


Cross the Mediterranean Sea to arrive at Egypt, where the pyramids majestically await. Related world renowned works include the Great Sphinx of Giza and Saqqara, so get your cameras ready. Mystical Egypt also has various sacred buildings such as the Abu Simbel Temples, Luxor Temple and Mosque of Muhammad Ali.
