Cheap flights from Burundi

The Republic of Burundi, also called simply Burundi, is a country in Southeast Africa. Located in the African Great Lakes region, the landlocked country is bordered by Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west. Much of the south-western border is adjacent to Lake Tanganyika. Burundi's capital, largest city, and main port is Bujumbura. Its main attractions are its beaches, parks, and monuments.

Where to go

Lake Tanganyika - Lake Tanganyika is an African Great Lake, the longest freshwater lake in the world and the body of water with one of the highest concentrations of heavy water. Additionally, it is considered to be the second largest freshwater lake in the world by volume and the second deepest. Lake Tanganyika doesn't belong to Burundi alone; in fact, it is divided among four countries, the other three being Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Zambia. Tanzania and DRC possess majority of the lake. It contains about 250 species of cichlid fish and 75 more species of non-cichlid fish. 98% of the cichlid species in Lake Tanganyika are endemic to the lake.

Chutes de la Kagera - Chutes de la Kagera, also known as Chutes de la Karera or Kagera Falls, is a series of waterfalls located in the south-eastern region of Burundi, south of Rutana. The falls are comprised of six branches divided on three landings, and occupy a total area of 142 hectares.

Muhweza Hot Springs - The thermal springs of Muhweza are believed to have healing powers. The water temperature can reach up to 37.3 degree Celsius.

Kibira National Park - Kibira National Park is situated in north-western Burundi, and overlaps four provinces. The national park occupies a total area of 400 square kilometres and is contiguous with the Nyungwe National Park. Several important species of birds live in the national park, including the great blue turaco, white-spotted flufftail, grey parrot, and mountain buzzard.

From the main airport in Bujumbura, there are flights to Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, and United Arab Emirates. Uganda is blessed with many national parks, including Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, and Kidepo Valley National Park for starters.

The capital of Belgium, the city of Brussels, is a good (and the only) long haul destination from Burundi. Brussels reels travellers in with its small European town charm, offering trendy bars, cafes, and restaurants, a rich nightlife, plenty of shopping opportunities, and several museums and art galleries. Some of the key

attractions to visit when in Belgium include the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, Musical Instrument Museum, Parc du Cinquantenaire, and Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences.
