The flag carrier for Portugal is TAP Portugal, but you can fly to places with Aegean Airlines, Vueling, Monarch, KLM, easyJet, Ryanair, Azores Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Wizz Air, Eurowings, Turkish Airlines, TAAG, Air France, Iberia, Swiss Air, El Al, and Lufthansa.

If you live in Portugal or are just visiting, it should be your prerogative to see its famed cities of Lisbon (LIS) and Porto (OPO) as these cities deliver Portuguese culture in the form of cuisine, architecture and its museums, and both can be reached in an hour.

Most of the short-haul destinations available from Portugal will take you to the cities or Africa or Europe, and within these continents you can find whole worlds. Jump to Geneva (GVA) the lakeside city where the UN is headquartered, and where you can ski in the nearby French resort of Chamonix. Or choose to fly to Marrakech (RAK) in Morocco, and tour the medina, the Majorelle Garden, the Bahia Palace, and the Koutoubia Mosque.

Your long-haul options can take you to Rio de Janiero (GIG), in Brazil and you can see the direct influence Portugal has had on this South American country. Climb Sugarloaf Mountain, sunbathe on Ipanema Beach, and dance down the streets during Carnivale.

Where to find cheap flights from Portugal

For the budget-friendly flights, leaving from Lisbon (LIS) or Porto (OPO) is your best chance of finding the most choice when it comes to routes and prices. Skyscanner will always present you with the cheapest options, but looking at low-cost providers like Ryanair, or easyJet can up your chances of a bargain.
