Jordan is a small country, and so there is only one primary hub that covers all its international flights, and this is the Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) situated in Amman, the capital city. Royal Jordanian Airlines is the flag carrier for Jordan, and most flights are operated by this airline. Though there are options run by Air Cairo, Air Arabia, Air France, Iraqi Airways, Alitalia, Oman Air, British Airways, Emirates, Kuwait Airways, Qatar Airways, TAROM, Gulf Air and many others.

If you are staying in Amman, you must fly to Aqaba (AQJ) Jordan’s lovely coastal city. Blending the deep blue waters of the Gulf of Aqaba, with the striking arid mountains that rise up behind the golden shores. See the Valley of the Moon, also known as the Wadi Rum Desert, an incredible geological site that resembles the moon’s surface. Then duck into the shops and bargain at the souks of the Old Town, scuba dive in the Red Sea, and visit the impressive Aqaba Fort.

Close by, are several cities you can fly to for the weekend that will give you a totally different cultural experience. Fly to Larnaca (LCA), on Cyprus, and take advantage of the lovely Mediterranean Sea at the many coastal resorts. Embark on a history tour by ticking off the House of Dionysus, Kolossi Castle, and ancient Salamis off your holiday to-dos.

There are also a few excellent long-haul destinations that you can book tickets to. Like the city of Montreal (YUL), the largest city in Canada’s Quebec province, and a delightful mix of both European and North American personalities. If you visit in summer you can stroll the Old Port of Montreal, or climb up and enjoy the sunshine from Mont Royal. In the winter you can enjoy a poutine, or tire d’érable(hot maple syrup thickened on the snow), and ski down the slopes of Mont Tremblant, just outside the city.
