Most vending machines pop a drink or snack. But in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), you can also find one that pops gold bards. Wrap your heads around that. Besides being the first country to operate the ‘Gold to go’ machine, the UAE has many other fascinating sights and pleasures for travellers. It has the most spiritual of morning prayers and the loudest of nightlife, the purest of nature and the most stylish of hotels. Before you leave the UAE for your next destination, make sure you’ve seen the following highlights:

Dubai is the capital and proud owner of several iconic landmarks. Reaching approximately 830 metres into the skies, the Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building as of 2014 and there’s great shopping in its vicinity. Dubai is also responsible for several large scale creations best appreciated from an aerial view, such as the Palm Islands and The World Islands, resembling palm trees and the map of the world respectively. Finally, browse in Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping malls, which also contains the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, a place perfect for both adults and kids.

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi has successfully preserved its historical traits while impressing the world with new exciting developments. Discover culture and religion in Abu Dhabi through the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque – the burial site of the emirate’s former great ruler, and the Al Ain National Museum where you’ll find a comprehensive visual display of Arabic heritage. Then head down to the Ferrari theme park, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, to let loose on high speed roller coasters.

Sharjah is considered by many to be the cultural centre of the UAE. Here, you’ll find excellent museums and an arts scene that paints a vivid local picture. Also, get drawn into important events such as the Sharjah Biennial art fair and Sharjah International Book Fair, both events having gained popularity around the world. Apart from culture, the Al Qasba provides a range of entertainment and recreational activities while the Eye of the Emirates Ferris wheel gives you a stunning view of the surrounding cityscape.

Heading out of the UAE, look at the following countries as your next stop:
