Cheap flights from Namibia

Nambia, officially known as the Republic of Namibia, is a Southern Africa country that shares land borders with Zambia and Angola to the north, Bostwana to the east, South Africa to the south and east, and the Atlantic Ocean in the west. It covers an area of 318,695 square miles, with a population of an estimated 2.3 million people who are predominantly of African descent. Its capital and largest city is Windhoek, located in the central region in the Khomas Highland area, which sits 1,700 metres above sea level.

Where to go

Namibia is known to house some of the most beautiful landscapes in all of Africa. Natural wonders such as the mighty gash in the earth at the Fish River Canyon and the wildlife preserve at Etosha National Park are some of the must-see attractions in the country. Start at the city’s capital of Windhoek, which gives travellers that same western feel because of its busy streets and cosmopolitan outlook. This is where you can find the National Museum of Namibia, known to locals as the stash of its struggles throughout history, and it also served as the headquarters of the German Schutztruppe. Artefacts, memorabilia, and photos of the colonial period can also be found here. A short trip on the outskirts of the city will bring you to Katutura, now an outer suburb, which in hindsight will tell you about the reality of people’s lives outside the confines of the capital. A trip to an African country won’t be complete without seeing some wildlife, so make sure that you visit the Etosha National Park in Northern Namibia. It is a 7,722 square-mile park considered as one of the top wildlife-viewing spots in the world. The park is home to hundreds of various animal species, despite the fact that the land looks too barren for wildlife preservation. Food in Namibia, however, is very diverse and you will find local and international cuisines in the restaurants, particularly in the Windhoek area.

Fly in to Luanda, the capital city of Angola, via direct flights offered by TAAG Angola Airlines and Air Namibia on a short-haul flight that will last just a little less than two hours. Luanda is the most populous city, with over five million habitants and is known to be a city of extremes, owing to the fact that it is very rich in oil but poor in cash. If you think that most of Africa’s wildlife areas are dry and barren, a trip to the coastal savannah of Kissama should change your view on the matter. The Parque Naccional de Kissama is home to elephants, water buffalo, and nesting sea turtle to name a few, that were preserved in the park despite of years of neglect and poaching during the civil war. Another place worth visiting is the Fortaleza de São Miguel, Luanda’s oldest surviving building that the Portuguese built in 1576, where the Museu Central das Forças Armadas and a good view of the whole city can be seen.

Fly to Rome, the capital of Italy, which is the fourth-most populous country in the European Union, with an estimate of three million residents. Rome is in the top 20 most visited cities in the world and rightfully so, as it showcases rich history, fine arts, and great food to all of its visitors. With so much ground to cover, make sure that you visit the top three attractions that the city has to offer: The 2,000-year-old Pantheon, the best preserved monument of ancient Rome; The Colosseum, a 50,000-seat structure that hosted some of the greatest battles between gladiators and animals; and the St. Peter’s Basilica, the finest cathedral in all of Italy, which took 150 years to build and still holds spectacular works of art such as Michelangelo’s Pietà, soaring dome, and Bernini’s 29m-high baldachin over the papal altar. And because of the wide variety of top notch restaurants and cafe in this place, you will never go hungry and unsatisfied during your visit.
