Flights to Switzerland

Switzerland is a place worth putting on your bucket list. With a climate that is hospitable at all times of the year, it is an ideal place to visit whenever you’re available. Switzerland also has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and with more than 20% of the country’s population made up of foreigners, it is a very tourist-friendly country.

Have you ever wondered what living in one of the ‘most liveable cities in the world’ feels like? Make a trip to Zurich, arguably Switzerland’s most popular city, to find out. A fusion of old-world vibes and cutting edge technology, Zurich never fails to bring tourists back for more.

While there, stroll along the classy storefronts of the Bahnhofstrasse, where you’ll find endless high-end stores to pamper your luxurious side. Be blown away by the excellent variety and service of these upscale installations. For those who prefer something a little more authentic, head down to Alstadt (Old Town) nearby to soak in the more historic side of town. The medieval set-up of cobblestone alleys and museums such as the Museum Rietberg and the Swiss National Museum is sure to engage you. Be sure to grab a photo opportunity with the giant chess set of Lindenhoff Square. There are also cosy and inexpensive restaurants in the area for a memorable nice.

In contrast to the Old Town, visit the area of Zurich West for contemporary and modern shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Alternatively, head to the Great Church and climb up its steps to the top of the tower for a panoramic view of the city.

For the nature lovers, head down to the Zurichsee (Lake Zurich) to enjoy the parks and promenades, collectively known as Lake Promenade. On warm days, join the locals in sunbathing or boat rides around the area. The lush greenery and good scenery also make for good photo opportunities.

Head out to Uetilberg in a 20 minute journey from Zurich for a magnificent panorama view 2,875 feet above sea level. Take a hike around the area or just appreciate the scenery on offer. For the romantics, wait it out till sunset for a view you will not soon forget.

Besides Zurich, Geneva is also worth a stop. Besides exploring the city’s museums and fine dining establishments, you can also take a trip to the town of Montreux, located on the shores of Lake Geneva. Hop on board a train or a trolleybus to visit the Chateau de Chillon and explore the courtyards, dungeons and rooms.

Travel to Grindelwald’s Jungfrau Region, which offers spectacular scenery. White peaks of towering mountains complemented by green meadows, valleys and fresh mountain air makes a visit there an experience like no other.  Alternatively, travel to Zermatt, home of the Matterhorn Mountains. Zermatt is an idyllic, car-free village that welcomes plenty of skiers, hikers and mountaineers every year.

Do not miss the Swiss city of St Gallen, complete with its picturesque buildings and carved balconies. Visit the Abbey of St. Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which holds books dating back to the ninth century. St Gallen is one of the highest cities in Switzerland and hence receives lots of snow in the winter, ideal for tourists seeking to experience cool climates.
