PAL Express, which previously operated as Air Philippines Corporation and formerly known as Airphil Express and Air Philippines, is a sister company of Philippine Airlines. It is a low-coast airline based in Pasay, Philippines. The airline underwent numerous rebranding, first as Air Philippines, then as PAL Express. PAL Express operates domestic and international scheduled services from Manila, Cebu, Davao City, and Zamboanga. It currently operates its own fleet, which is comprised of 22 aircraft (13 Airbus A320-200, 4 Bombardier Dash 8 Q300, and 5 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400) that fly out to at least 28 destinations. It has been recognised as the "Most Outstanding Domestic Airline" by the Consumers Union of the Philippines for four times.
How to Check In
PAL Express offers passengers with the option to check-in and select their preferred seats online, from 24 hours to two hours prior their flight's departure. Passengers who are eligible to check-in online are those with confirmed booking and valid e-ticket or tickets purchased from any PAL ticket office, Contact Centre, travel agency, and philippineairlines.com. Those who require medical or special assistance, unaccompanied minors, or a group of 16 or more people under one booking must proceed to the airport counter for personal check-in. Web check-in is available for all domestic flights as well as international flights except flights from Xiamen, China and 2P-operated flights to or from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. You may change your pre-selected seats by retrieving your booking online and reprinting the boarding pass which reflects your new seat assignment. For domestic flights, passengers with check-in baggage must proceed to the web check-in counter for documents verification and acceptance of check-in baggage. For those who do not have check-in baggage, proceed directly to the boarding gate with your printed boarding pass and a valid ID. For international flights, all passengers, with or without baggage, proceed to the web check-in counter.
Baggage Allowance & Fees
Each passenger is allowed one piece of hand-carry baggage that must fit the overhead bin or under the passenger seat of the aircraft cabin with a maximum dimension of 45 inches, and maximum weight of 7kg (15lbs). PAL Express also offers Free Baggage Allowance, which varies depending on your destination. Excess baggage charges apply to baggage whose sum of the three-dimensional exceeds the permitted specifications but does not exceed 62 inches (158cm) or the weight of which does not exceed 50lbs (23kg) will be assessed, each piece of baggage both in excess of the allowed number but does not exceed 80 inches (203cm) or the weight of which does not exceed 50lbs (23kg) will be assessed, and each piece of baggage whose sum of the three dimensions exceeds 80 inches (203cm) and/or whose weight exceeds 50lbs (23kg) will be carried as accompanied baggage only if advance arrangements are made with your carrier. Dangerous goods, articles, or substances will not be allowed to be checked-in. An applicable charge will be collected for oversized baggage.
Passengers can select their seats upon web check-in. However, if you wish to be seated at the Exit Row, you must meet the following criteria: must be above 15 years of age; not elderly; must be physically and mentally fit, without hearing or visual impairment or other disabilities; should have sufficient mobility, strength, or agile in both arms and hands, and both legs; should be able to speak in English, understand and carry out instructions; should not be travelling with infant or children below 15 years old or someone that needs his/her assistance during emergency situation; should acknowledge the exit row briefing that will be given out by the Cabin Crew once on board the aircraft; and must be willing to assist the Cabin Crew during an emergency evacuation situation.
PAL Express’ online booking accepts flight booking and online ticket purchases, except for international code shared flights. Online payments accepted are MasterCard/Visa/JCB Credit/Debit Cards, BancNet ATM card (domestic flights only), and MyePrepaid MasterCard. A maximum of seven passengers can be booked per transaction for online payments. You can also pay online reservations thru Payment Centres (Petron Payment Centres, 7-11 Stores Nationwide, and ECPAY Merchant Partners), Ticket Offices, and Contact Centre. Only cash is accepted at payment centres. The online booking also features a fully automated facility called “Calendar Pricing,” which immediately displays the lowest fares available over seven days.
The airline provides a wide range of inflight entertainment and services for its passengers which include video programs, movies, news, bulletins, cultural information, and other programs. Passengers can also enjoy listening to radio programs and music. Duty-free shopping is also available. Various meals are served on board accompanied by different soft drinks, wines, and appetizers.
