Flying with AirAsia X

Part of the Malaysian AirAsia Group, AirAsia X is a low-cost carrier that operates in the Asia Pacific. This particular subsidiary of AirAsia was founded in 2007, and operates the long-haul journeys of the company, which includes 19 destinations across Japan, China, India, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia.

Ways To Check-In

Checking in with AirAsia X couldn’t be easier, especially as passengers can do so online from seven days to four hours before your flight. If you do have a web boarding pass you will need to validate it at the self-check in kiosks at the airport. If you do choose to check in when you arrive at the airport, there are staffed AirAsia X desks in the departure halls, which you can use, just be sure to arrive around 2 hours ahead of your flights.

Baggage Allowance & Fees

On AirAsia X passengers flying in Economy Class are not given a free checked baggage allowance, and you will have to pay per piece. Business Class flyers are able to bring up to 20kg, but the bag must adhere to linear dimensions of 158cm total. Anything over that weight or size will be subject to fees.

If you are planning to travel light, all passengers may bring one carry on bag and a personal item (such as a handbag or coat) onto the aircraft free-of-charge. The hand luggage must not weigh more than 7kg, and should measure within 56cm x 36cm x 23cm.

Booking Fees

AirAsia X has various payment channels in most currencies. Passengers can pay through credit card, direct debit, ATM payments, over the counter, and payment partners.

In-Flight Service

AirAsia X knows that being entertained while you fly adds so much to your onboard experience, and as such, they provide passengers with Samsung Galaxy Tabs, which display movies, TV shows, music and games.

AirAsia X flights are generally long-haul flights over 75 minutes, and so hot meals will be served, and you can pre-book your meals when you are buying your flights. Please note, that you will have to purchase these meals, as they are not complimentary.

The AirAsia Group does not provide an Unaccompanied Minor service, and so any children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to travel alone on an AirAsia X flight. If your child is aged between 12 and 16 they will need to bring with them proof of age, and a parent or guardian will need to sign an indemnity form in order for them to fly.
