Departing from: There is only one terminal in ADL, which services all flights. Double-check which gate you are required to depart from when you reach the airport.

This easy and short journey to Port Augusta is made easier with Adelaide’s excellent airport. As one of the busiest in Australia, ADL comes replete with amenities for passengers transiting through this hub. Sit and enjoy a beverage or a snack at one of the cafes, or browse the newsagents and pick up a book to start on the flight. You can access both free wireless internet and ATMs in the terminal, and there is a helpful information booth available to passengers as well.

Port Augusta does not receive many flights, so it is advisable that if you need to change money, or pick up refreshments before your flight, that you do so in ADL Airport, where there are more facilities available to passengers.  

Transport

Taxis do service this airport, but you have to call in advance to ensure that you will have someone to pick you up. The airport is only a short 7km drive away from the downtown area, with the journey costing roughly $20.

You can also rent a car, but the rental companies are located in Downtown Port Augusta, so you will have to arrange a pickup, or speak with the service to see if they will deliver the car to the airport for you.

Do you need a form of identification?

Though this is a domestic flight, you must carry photo identification with you. This can be a social security card, a driver’s license or your passport. Please note: if you are an international traveller flying within Australia, it is recommended that you use your passport as your primary form of identification.

How long should you leave to get to the airport?

As this is a domestic flight departing and arriving in domestic terminals, it is recommended that you check in at least 45-60 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please be aware that if you are travelling in a group, or are going on to a connecting flight, that you arrive 90-120 minutes before departure time.

Weather:  Fairly sheltered from the sea, Port Augusta can experience summer highs of 31-32°C, with a slightly drier, warmer climate than Adelaide. Winter lows can dip to 7°C, but in general this is a very temperate town.  

The cost of living in Port Augusta is lower than that of Adelaide, meaning you should find your dollar goes a lot further in this quaint city by the sea.
