Cheap flights from Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a great base from which to organise your trips around the world from. You can fly to any number of destinations with direct and connecting flights, and you can find your way to the most convenient routes with Skyscanner.

In Bulgaria you will find that there are four main international airports offering flights from the country to other destinations in the world. The key gateway for the nation though, is the Sofia Airport (SOF), which offers the most non-stop flights of any other airport in Bulgaria. Other important hubs are:

·         Burgas Airport (BOJ)

·         Varna Airport (VAR)

·         Plovdiv Airport (PDV)

However, from Sofia Airport (SOF) you can connect to almost 60 cities in Europe and the Middle East, which offer further codeshare flights onto cities in other continents. Bulgaria Air is the flag carrying airline for the country, but you will find there are more routes offered through other carriers like Wizz Air, Ryanair, Aegean Airlines, Qatar Airways, Lufthansa, flydubai, Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, LOT, Swiss Air, and El Al.

Popular flights from Bulgaria

Access much of Europe from this hub, and jump to the neighbouring countries of Romania, Greece and Macedonia. For instance, spend a weekend touring Bucharest (OTP), and see the Stravropoleos Church, Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History, and the Palace of Parliament. Or, for a real treat, book a Transylvania Castle tour, many of which will take you to the castle that inspired the infamous Dracula legend.

But with so much of Europe on your doorstep, it’d be a pity not to fly a little further and discover the furthest parts of it. Like the city of Moscow (SVO), beautiful in winter or summer, as you can tour the Red Square and see the imposing Kremlin, and the striking St. Basil’s Cathedral. Catch a show at the famed Bolshoi Theatre, and walk the avenues of the beautiful Gorky Park.

Though there aren’t long-haul flights operating directly from Bulgaria, you can hop aboard flights to Dubai (DXB) a city that offers 200 direct connections around the world. Beyond that, this city is always warm, making it perfect for a winter break, where you can shop, dine, and take in those sunny rays.
