Completed as of mid-1530s, the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor is the oldest cathedral in the Americas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as of 1990. Located between Calle Arzobispo Merino and Isabel la Católica, the cathedral combines Gothic and Baroque elements with its facade featuring golden-tinted coral limestone, along with some parts showing lavish plateresque styles, especially seen through the high altar that was chiselled out of silver. When within the cathedral, some of its treasury include an art collection of woodcarvings, furnishings, funerary monuments, silver, as well as jewellery.
