The first international airport in the country and the second busiest, Christchurch International is a well facilitated airport, and a pleasure to transit through. Passengers can shop in the duty and tax free store that is in the terminal, grab a refreshment post flight at one of the many dining outlets, or even go to the family entertainment centre. You can access ATMs and a currency exchange service in the terminal too.
There is a taxi rank just outside the international arrivals hall, and a journey into the centre of town is only 15-20 minutes, and you can expect a fare of between 45-65NZD ($40-60). Shuttle companies also operate out of the airport, but prices vary according to company. There are public buses that operate into Christchurch town (Purple Line and Route 29) for 8NZD ($7) one-way.
