Cheap flights from Jamaica

Jamaica is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, comprising the third largest island of the Greater Antilles. The island lies some 145 kilometres south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres west of Hispaniola, the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Jamaica is the fifth largest island country in the Caribbean, and is a Commonwealth realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch. Jamaica is known for its music, which is deeply embedded in its culture.

Where to go

Known for its strong sense of self-identity expressed through its music, food, and rich culture, Jamaica's influence extends far beyond its shores, and its not all about the fast runners, Rastafarianism, Bob Marley, and Marcus Garvey.

Dolphin Cove – A marine attraction in Jamaica, and cast as the 'number one' attraction in the country, the Dolphin Cove is a series of facilities where humans can freely interact and swim with dolphins, sharks, and sting rays. Visitors may also visit other species here, including iguanas, snakes, a variety of birds, as well as other marine creatures in the Jungle Trail Walk. The attraction operates on three facilities, the Ocho Rios, the Montego Bay, and Lucea, which is claimed to be the largest natural dolphin lagoon in the world.

Montego Bay – Montego Bay is the capital of the parish of St. James and the second largest city in Jamaica by area and the fourth by population. It is a two-pronged city: one that is a smooth tourist countenance which that is reminiscent of many glossy Caribbean post cards and leaflets, and there's the other – the real and proper representation of a pretty gritty city, just like Kingston. Go around and visit the fancy suburb of Ironshore, or check out the more grounded Hip Strip and its mid-range hotels and souvenir shops selling Bob Marley memorabilia.

Negril – Yet another beach resort in Jamaica, Negril is a small town located between Westmoreland and Hanover, in the western region of the country. Although still fairly underdeveloped, the city boasts of its coastline which is pristine and quite enjoyable, especially in the warm afternoons.

Martha Brae River – Located in Trelawny Parish on the north coast of Jamaica, Martha Brae River is famous for its water rafting facilities, which is considered romantic and enjoyable.

Bob Marley Museum – The large, creaky, colonial-era wooden house on Hope Road, Kingston, is where Bob Marley lived and recorded from 1976 until his death in 1981. It is perhaps the city's most-visited site, and is functioning as a tourist attraction, museum, and shrine, and much remains as it was in Marley's day. The former recording studio out back is now an exhibition hall with some photos of Bob, and a theatre, where the tours finish with a 20-minute film. Another studio is inside the house, which his sons use for solo projects.
