If you need to book an air ticket from the Gold Coast to Hamilton Island, you will find that two main airlines service the route: Qantas and Virgin Australia. Gold Coast airport departure information

On the day of your flight to Hamilton Island from the Gold Coast, you should head to the airport early enough that you arrive at least 30-60 minutes before takeoff. Make sure you bring your driver’s licence, passport or other form of identification with you so that you can present it if required.

The Gold Coast airport is located at Coolangatta. To get there, you can take a taxi (the average cost is $60 to $65) or driving yourself and park at the airport. Alternatively, you can choose to purchase a seat on the Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle (it runs from Runaway Bay in the north to Tweed Heads in the south) or take a Translink public bus. On arrival at Hamilton Island airport after your flight from the Gold Coast, if you feel parched feel free to purchase a refreshing cold drink from the airport bar, or grab some snacks, magazines, newspapers or other small items from the on-site shop. There are also bathroom facilities and a parents’ room at the airport should you need them after your trip.

To get to your Hamilton Island accommodation (only around five minutes’ drive from the airport), you will usually be able to take advantage of complimentary door-to-door transfers arranged by hotels and other providers. Keep in mind that there are no taxis available on the island, so it pays to make sure you organise your transport before you arrive.
