Popular flights from Iran

No visitor or resident of Iran can fail to feel the pull of Persepolis. From Tehran, you can fly to Shiraz (SYZ) the closest airport to the site. This ancient city, also known as Takht-e-Jamshid, stood between the 6th and 4th century BC and has seen Alexander the Great tread through its streets. Like the Pyramids of Giza, this site is precious for charting human history; gaze at the Gate of All Nations, see the ruins of Apadana Palace, and witness the incredible tombs, and you will be blown away by the ingenuity, and beauty of this world wonder.

If you enjoy Persepolis, it is but a short four hour flight to Athens (ATH), where lovers of ancient culture can indulge themselves by seeing Greece’s most famous monument, the Acropolis. Walk along the colonnades of the Parthenon, and explore this ancient citadel, a site that stood at the same time as Persepolis.

But then, you do not always have to be looking back; at only eight hours of travel time away, flyers can engage with the modern might of Shanghai (PVG). This city rises in skyscrapers that dwarf the gothic and neoclassical colonial architecture of the original waterfront area. Blend the old with the new by visiting attractions like the Yu Garden, and the Jade Buddha Temple, with the Shanghai Museum, and the Oriental Pearl Tower.
