 Bologna International Airport

The Bologna Guglielmo Marconi International Airport (BLQ) serves the lovely city of Bologna in northern Italy. This is one of the busiest aviation facilities in the nation, seeing well over seven million people travel through this airport every year. This airport is conveniently located only 6km from the centre of the city, and offers its travellers over 60 direct flight destinations.

There are two terminals that are linked by an express shuttle train, or you can walk between the two if you’d prefer. Within the terminals themselves, you will find cash machines, foreign exchange services, and a full service bank in the main terminal. Communication with friends and family is easy with the free WiFi access provided by the airport throughout both terminals.

If you’re peckish pre- or post-flight you can grab a bite to eat at one of the cafes or snack kiosks scattered within the airport. There is also a bar you can relax in if you have a little more transit time. You can also pick up some duty-free goods at various shops if you are travelling internationally, such as tobacco, cosmetics, and alcohol, but you can also buy handy travel accessories, reading materials, and fashion products here.

Fly to Bologna from Australia with airlines like Singapore Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, SAS, Qantas, Emirates, Air France, British Airways, China Southern, Cathay Pacific, and Etihad Airways.

Travel Information

·         Renting a car can be done from one of the many agencies that have desks within the Main Terminal, or organise one in advance with Skyscanner's search tool. You should be able to get into the city within about 20 minutes, all you need do is get on the A14, and then take Viale Palmiro Togliatti to the Viale M.K. Gandhi, then hop onto the Via S. Felice, which will take you right to the centre of town.

·         Buses run directly from the airport into town, or the central railway station. The journey should take about 20 minutes, and should cost you 6EUR ($8) for a one-way ticket.

·         Taxis can be found right outside the terminals, and usually take only 15 minutes, but they are the most expensive way to travel at roughly 20-25EUR ($28-35). If you’d like to take private transport, but would like cheaper rates, than an airport transfer might be a better option for you.
