Finding flights from Moranbah Airport (MOV)

The Moranbah Airport (MOV) is the main aviation hub for the town of Moranbah. To travel the 10km from the centre of town, it’s advisable to take a hire car, or a taxi cab, as the township doesn’t run buses to the airport.

You can only fly to one city from Moranbah, and that is Brisbane (BNE), but this is an advantage to any flyer who would like to explore more of Australia, or destinations abroad.

Both Qantas and Virgin Australia are carriers that will get you from Moranbah to Brisbane.

Popular destinations from Moranbah Airport

Brisbane is a great city; set against the banks of the Brisbane River, you can enjoy a tour of this city via boat, or put on your walking shoes and enjoy the Cultural Centre, the Botanic Gardens, and the attractions on the South Bank. Nearby, you can easily drive to the glitzy Gold Coast (OOL), where you can enjoy miles and miles of golden coastline, hit the casinos, or take the kids to the many theme parks that populate this area.

Short-haul flights can take you to some of the most beautiful islands in Oceania, such as the tropical charms of Samoa (APW), or Vanuatu (SON). Or fly just that bit further and fly to Hawaii (HNL), the Polynesian archipelago that doubles as a U.S. State.

There are much longer routes, and if you want, you can find adventure on the streets of Shanghai (PVG), China’s slick financial capital. This is one of the best places in the world to shop, eat, and go out, and a brilliant city to visit if you want to discover a little more of what China is all about. Or fly to Dubai (DXB) instead, where you can try delicious Emirati cuisine, learn about Berber culture, and make connections out to Europe if you fancy a little time in the Old World.
