Vancouver is one of the few major cities in North America that is not served by a freeway. Instead, Vancouver’s road network works with a grid system or “Street” that goes from north to south, together with “Avenue” from east to west. The city is also served by arterial roads that follow the grid system. Downtown Vancouver on the other hand has its own grid system, and is surrounded by water on three sides, which makes driving into and out of the downtown area to cross a bridge and cause traffic congestion.
There are metered parking within the commercial areas in the city with the meters accepting both Canadian and American change. Optionally, there are Easy Park lots marked with an orange circle with a big “P”, with these serving as the most affordable of all the parkades in the area. Lastly, if worse comes to worse, retrieving a towed vehicle will get you to the city impound lot at 425 Industrial Ave.

One of the coolest airports ever has to be Vancouver International Airport. Everything in the airport is efficient (line control, signage) and neat (clean, historical, photo opportunity worthy).
Their rental car lots are within walking distance (no need for a shuttle!).
The convenience shops have pretty awesome gifts to kill time, including some pretty great and stylish cold weather accessories. My sister gets some many compliments all the time on her fun bear hat!
I even enjoy the historic deco throughout the airport, definitely a great way to learn about tourism and take photos too!

Nice, clean airport that's well organized and friendly airport workers. If your layover is long, a short cab ride into the heart of Richmond will get you some good Chinese food/shopping.

YVR is a very clean and organized airport that is definitely of what is expected from an North American international airport. There are free wifi, arts, and ample shops/restaurant to keep passengers occupied and entertained. It is well connected to town, making this airport one of my favorites to get in and out of.
