Eurowings is a German low-cost airline which offers flights to and from a number of European and UK cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, Birmingham, Brussels, Cardiff, Knock, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Glasgow, Hamburg, Leipzig, London, Lyon, Manchester, Milan, Newcastle, Nuremberg, Oslo, Paris, Poznan, Prague, Rijeka, Sofia, Stockholm, Stuttgart, Turin, Vienna, Westerland, and Wroclaw.

Eurowings’ parent organisation is the German airline Lufthansa. The airline was founded in 1993, originally as a regional airline before transitioning into a low-cost long and short-haul carrier in 2015.The airline prides itself on being a high-quality low-cost carrier with an excellent safety record.

Why Fly With Eurowings?

Ways To Check-In

• Eurowings counters usually open 2 hours before departure, and close 30 minutes before scheduled departure times. There is no charge for checking in at the airport.

• Generally, web and mobile check-in is available for short and medium-haul flights, 72 hours to 3 hours before departure. If departing from a German airport, you can check in online or via mobile up to 30 minutes prior to your departure time. You can either print your own boarding pass at home, or choose for it to be sent via SMS or e-mail.

• Be aware that web check-in is only available for some long-haul flights - Check the Eurowings website for which routes offer web check-in.

Baggage Allowances & Fees

• Passengers on all fare tiers can carry on one piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 8kg and measuring no more than 55 x 40 x 23cm, free of charge.

• BASIC fare passengers can purchase 23kg of check-in luggage for €15 (about $22 AUD) and a second bag of 23kg for €75 (approx. $110 AUD).

• SMART fare passengers have one check-in bag of 23kg included in their fare, or can purchase an extra 23kg for €75.

• BEST fare passengers can take check-in two bags each weighing no more than 23kg for free.

• Extra luggage can be added to a booking up to 30 minutes before a flight departure.

Seating

• On short and medium-haul flights, BASIC fare passengers can choose their seat for €8 (approx. $12 AUD), or purchase a seat with extra legroom for €22 (approx. $32.40).

• SMART fare passengers can choose their seat for free.

• BEST fare passengers automatically get free reservation of a seat with more legroom, and will always be seated with an empty seat next to them.

• For long-haul flights, BASIC fare passengers can choose their seat for €10 (around $14.70 AUD), or purchase a seat with extra legroom plus a hot meal for €90 (approx. $132.50 AUD).

• As with short and medium-haul flights, SMART and BEST fare passengers on long haul flights automatically get preferred seating and more leg room.

• Every seat has a USB power port.

In-Flight Service

• BEST fare passengers receive their choice from the à la carte catering selection, as well as a snack and drink at no extra charge. For long-haul flights, BEST fare customers get free access to the in-flight entertainment programme, showing recent TV programmes and movies.

• SMART fare passengers receive a free hearty snack, still water, plus another drink of their choice on request. SMART fare passengers can access in flight entertainment for a fee.

• BASIC fare customers must purchase all food, snacks and drinks on board, and can also purchase inflight entertainment for a fee.

• All passengers travelling on Airbus A330-200 flights can also purchase in an in-flight data package to access the internet during their flight.

• The airline offers an in-flight magazine on short, medium and long-haul flights. • Children’s TV series, audiobooks, songs and games are free of charge.

• Eurowings offers an unaccompanied minor service on direct domestic flights and direct flights from Germany to Zurich for children aged aged 5 to 11. Children travelling alone receive a savoury snack and still water (0.2 l) and an additional drink on board for free.
