The regional airport, located in Ballina, New South Wale (NSW), was renamed Ballina Byron Gateway Airport in 2005. On weekends, about five kilometres away from the airport at Ballina Shire, crafts or farmer markets are typically held. You can discover and sample fresh produce, including coffee, seasonal fruit and vegetables, and flowers, as well as local art and live music.

After that, visit the Big Prawn, Ballina’s representative on the “Australia’s big things” list. A cross between folk art and novelty architecture, the Big Prawn regularly attracts tourists, who stop by to take a photo before heading to one of the seafood stores across the road.
