Serving the city of Rockhampton, the Rockhampton Airport (ROK) is one of the major regional aviation hubs in Central Queensland, and sees hundreds of thousands of people pass through its gates each year. Travelling through this airport you’ll find tourist information points, an ATM, an Internet kiosk, public telephones, and a Qantas lounge room.
The airport is 5km from Rockhampton, and is serviced by taxis. The journey should only take 10 minutes, and cost about $12.

Things to do in Rockhampton
Despite its size, Rockhampton has tons of attractions for those that book flights to this lovely city. There are several excellent museums, such as the Central Queensland Military Museum, which looks at the role this city played in World War 2, and there is the Archer Park Rail Museum, which investigates how the locomotion industry impacted the state and this city.
For a lesson in aesthetics, don’t forget to drop by the Rockhampton Art Gallery, or step back in time by visiting the Rockhampton Heritage Village, where you can tour the old blacksmith shop, clapboard homesteads, and learn about life in this town between 1850 and 1950.
There are lovely outdoor attractions too; such as the city’s Botanic Gardens, and the Kershaw Gardens which were created for the Australian Bicentenary. Go a little wild and see the nation’s top predator up close at the Koorana Crocodile Farm, or enjoy the glorious scenery of the Mount Archer National Park, where you can climb the 600 metres to see the surrounding hinterland of this dramatic part of the country.
Best time to visit Rockhampton
· Located close to the Central Queensland coast, the weather in this city is always pretty warm. For the highest temperatures, you will want to visit in the summer, when the days climb to 30°C, but for more temperate weather, April, May, September, and October see days between 20 and 23°C.
