The Soekarno-Hatta International Airport services the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta. Things to do in Jakarta

The streets also shelter little museums, galleries showcasing local art, and small eateries you can grab a delicious snack in. If you’re looking for something truly special to bring home though, make sure you add Surabaya to your must-sees, as that is the street for antiques, and you can locate some real finds in this part of town.

Next on your itinerary should be Monas, where you can visit the National Museum of Indonesia, which tells of the history of the city, its indigenous people, and the colonists that settled there. Nearby, is the culmination of that history in the form of a huge monument, that was erected in honour of the struggle of the Indonesians to free themselves from colonial rule.

Best time to visit Jakarta

· The city is tropical, and so is always warm, so rule of thumb is to travel around April through to September, when the skies are clear of rain, and the days hover between 23-30°C.

· If you’re not fond of rain, avoid Jakarta from October to March, when the temperature soars to the low 30s, and the city is subject to the downpours of the monsoon.
