Aberdeen Airport

Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ)

The Aberdeen International Airport (ABZ) is one of Scotland’s major aviation hubs, and serves the west coast city of Aberdeen. Opened in the early 1930s, and functioning as an airfield for the RAF during World War 2, this airport has had a long history. Currently, this facility is undergoing a redevelopment project to update its terminal buildings, and the project should be completed by 2019. Roughly three million people travel through Aberdeen each year, and if you’re intending to be one of them, you can take advantage of the airport’s current amenities.

There are ATMs, and foreign exchange services within the terminal building, provided free WiFi access, payphones, charging stations, and internet kiosks. If you’re feeling peckish, you can relax with a drink in the bar, grab a coffee, pick up a sandwich, or enjoy a sit down meal at one of the restaurants. There’s also a WHSmith newsagency within the airport, a pharmacy, a travel accessories store, and a World Duty Free section where you can browse and pick up goodies. Extras include an art gallery presented Gallery Heinzel.

If you’re flying out of Australia, you will have to expect at least two layovers along the route to Aberdeen. Airlines flying codeshare or connecting routes are usually Singapore Airlines, KLM, FlyBE, Emirates, Etihad, Qantas, British Airways, Thai Airways, Aer Lingus, Air France, Lufthansa, and others.
