Popular destinations from São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport

Take advantage of being in Brazil’s largest city, by flying out of its comprehensive airport. Discover what there is to love about Brazil itself by flying to the sensational Rio de Janeiro (GIG), a place famed for its glorious beaches, spectacular bay, and the iconic Christ the Redeemer sculpture that tops the city’s skyline. Or go to the historical streets of São Luís (SLZ), a UNESCO listed city with an evocative and magical old town that feels a little out of time. Nearby, intrepid travellers can make their way to the Lencois Maranhenses National Park, where the beaches rise in enormous sand dunes that will make you feel like you’ve left the planet instead of just the city.

Short flights of three to five hours are great for a limited getaway, and there are plenty of destinations you can reach from São Paulo. Why not get to know Santiago (SCL), Chile’s vibrant capital that is emerging as one of the most important on the continent. Alternatively, leave city life behind for a chance to conquer nature. Book a trip to Mendoza (MDZ) in Argentina, and climb the mighty Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Andes.

Of course, for some, a holiday means getting away to somewhere totally new. Why not fly to the Big Apple? New York is a city that constantly reinvents itself, whilst hanging onto its best attractions; go marvel at the works in the MoMA, stroll Central Park, take the ferry past the Statue of Liberty, and climb to the heights of the Empire State Building. Flights out to Europe are possible from this airport too, and if you’re not a fan of winter, you can swap it out for a European summer in Milan (MXP), Italy’s fashion capital, or experience the festive Christmas season in Zurich (ZRH) where snow falls gently throughout December, on Christmas markets selling chocolate, hot gluhwein, and gingerbread.
