New Zealand visa requirements for Australian citizens

Visa is not required

Travellers don’t need a visa to visit New Zealand for Business or Tourism.

If you’re an Australian citizen or resident, your visa won’t expire, and you can stay in New Zealand indefinitely.

Mandatory Travel Declaration form

All travellers arriving at New Zealand airports must complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration. Travellers are able to complete the New Zealand Traveller Declaration a maximum of 24 hours before departure.

Travellers can complete the declaration online or via the mobile app. The mobile app may not be available to travellers in certain countries and regions.

When completing the New Zealand Traveller Declaration, travellers must provide their contact details, passport information, flight number, travel history from the last 30 days, luggage information, and immigration status (if required).

A paper declaration form is available for travellers unable to complete the form online.

This requirement doesn’t apply to the following travellers:

Travellers require a passport valid for the duration of stay in New Zealand

Travellers need a valid passport to enter New Zealand. The traveller’s passport must remain valid throughout the traveller’s stay in New Zealand.
