Where to hire a car at Ercan International Airport

Petrol stations near Ercan International Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
If you’re coming from the Kyrenia direction you will pass a petrol station on the left just before reaching the roundabout leading to the airport. If you’re coming from the other direction it might be worth driving past the airport and turning around once your tank is topped up.
Driving around Ercan International Airport
Once you leave the airport you’ll find yourself on the Ercan Havaalani Yolu road, a large dual carriageway which connects to other major roads in North Cyprus. We recommend choosing a car rental package that includes a sat-nav system. You can select this from the filters on the left hand side when you search for car hire.
Remember: traffic drives on the left in North Cyprus, just like the UK.
Getting to your destination
Kyrenia is a picturesque harbour town with something to entertain every type of traveller: whether you’re more interested in Byzantine castles and narrow medieval streets or boat trips and buzzing restaurants. This is the top destination in North Cyprus, and if you hire a car it’s easy to reach the more remote beaches.
It takes about 40 minutes to drive to Kyrenia from Ercan International Airport. Parking is widely available throughout the town, but there’s a large car park just a short walk away from the castle where you can leave your car for a flat fee of TL 3* (about 70p). Some hotels in Kyrenia have guest car parks, which is perfect if you’re planning to stay in the town for the duration of your holiday.
The ancient gothic monastery is the main attraction in this mountain town, rumoured to be home to “the laziest men in Cyprus.” After a few days in this sleepy, idyllic place we’re sure you’ll be feeling pretty laid back too.
It only takes 35 minutes to drive to Bellapais from Ercan International Airport. There are plenty of places to park near the monastery, and the hotels in the area tend to have ample parking for guests. It’s a good idea to confirm this in advance, of course. When you book hotels with Skyscanner you can use the filters to the left of the page to find hotels with parking (and other must have amenities such as WiFi).
