Genoa Airport

Named for the famous explorer Christopher Colombus, the Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA) is the key aviation facility for the port city of Genoa, and the region of Liguria, situated on Italy’s northwestern coast.

Over a million people transit through Genoa’s airport, and as such you’ll find that all the essential amenities are represented here. Such as handy communication facilities like payphones, and free WiFi throughout the airport; enabling you to stay in touch with friends and family, or organise any immediate travel plans. There is a full-service bank at the airport, as well as currency exchange and ATMs. You will also find an information desk that can help you find your way around the airport, or the city.

There aren’t a huge variety of dining options at the Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA), but there is a selection of restaurants, and cafes where you can pick up refreshments before or after your flight. For shopping, there is a duty-free outlet for international travellers, and a number of other shops selling gifts, local souvenirs, as well as accessories and clothing.

Fly to Genoa from the far reaches of Australia with excellent carriers like Alitalia, Lufthansa, Emirates, British Airways, Air France, Qatar Airways, Air China, Etihad Airways, and Singapore Airlines.

Travel Information

·         At 10km west of the city, the drive in light traffic should be no more than 20 minutes. Get onto the Strada Statale 1 Via Aurelia, to the Viale Paolo Thaon di Revel, and you’ll be right in the centre. There are several international car hire agencies that work out of Genoa’s airport, and these are right by the main entrance to the terminal. If you’d prefer to just have the paperwork done before you arrive in the city, Skyscanner's search tools can help you snag that car hire deal in advance.

·         You can take buses into town, as there are regular services connecting the city and the airport. These buses leave right outside the terminal, take around half an hour in journey time, with a fare coming to about 6EUR ($8). You can also take a shuttle, and then a train into Genoa with the i24 shuttle, which is for a cheaper 1.60EUR ($2). Of course, you can look for something that will accommodate you whether you are travelling solo or in a group through Skyscanner’s airport transfer search tools.

·         You’ll be able to hop in a taxi directly from outside the airport, and the journey should take around 15-20 minutes. The fare here is calculated per person, so if you are travelling in a group this can be unexpectedly expensive. For a solo traveller, expect the fare to be about 8EUR ($11).
