An ancient and classical old city often referred to as the Florence of the South due to its rich architecture and that its a university city. Here you can experience the artisans selling their wares in the maze of tiny streets but around almost every corner is a beautiful cathedral, if you get lost just drop in for a coffee and watch the world go by. Bliss.

Lecce is called the Florence of the south for its beautiful Baroque architecture, a visit to the Duomo, Basilica di Santa Croce, and the churches of Santa Irene, Santa Chiara and San Matteo. Walk down the pedestrianised area off Piazza Mazzini, look at the papier mache' figurines in the shops, stop for a puccia (local pitta type bread filled with your choice).

It is an amazing city in south Italy. Called "The Florence of the south Italy". Great food, adorable people, impressive architecture and a eclectic nightlife. A lot of south italian culture. it was one of the most beautiful and inspiring cities I ever was. I would definitely recommend to visit this city and explore!

While it is known as the "Florence of southern Italy" and while it has wonderful art and is famous for its cuisine, what Lecce really is, is a town that doesn't wake up until10:00 at night, at the earliest. Restaurants open for early bird dinners at 8:00 and the streets are full at midnight.
