Where to hire a car at Rabat Airport
France Car, Location Auto, E.Boking Car, Air Car, Rabat Car Tour, Marloc, Locasom/Budget, Hertz and Scalavis all offer car hire from Rabat Airport.
Petrol stations near Rabat Airport
If you select a 'full to full' car rental agreement you will need to hand your car back with a full tank.
If you're driving to the airport through the city you'll find a TOTAL petrol station just a few minutes away from the airport, on Avenue de l'Aviation. If you're approaching on the dual carriageway you will pass a TOTAL station on the N6 just before the airport turn-off.
Driving around Rabat Airport
From the airport you can drive straight into the town of Salé, using the small local roads. If you turn left along the P4033 you can reach the N6 road, a dual carriageway which eventually leads onto the N1 motorway. From here it's easy to get to wherever you need to be. We recommend searching for car hire deals that include a sat-nav system. The streets can be quite busy and it's easy to get lost, so some technological help certainly won't go amiss.
Getting to your destination
Once you jump in your car you can explore until your heart's content, but these are some of the most popular destinations to visit.
Most tourists skip Morocco's capital city, but we think that's a big mistake. Everything about this city is beautiful, from its wide palm-fringed streets and French colonial buildings to its relaxed atmosphere and fantastic restaurants. The crowds aren't as intense as in other Moroccan cities, either.
It takes about 25 minutes to drive into downtown Rabat from the airport. Lots of hotels in Rabat have guest car parks, which is a blessing as it can be quite tricky to find somewhere to leave your car overnight. On-street parking is available, but space can be tight. There are also some big underground parking lots in the city centre. If you're only visiting for a day, you can leave your rental car at the Park & Ride and explore the city using public transit.
Just across the river from Rabat, the town of Salé was once a pirate enclave. It's grittier than Rabat, but a lot more traditional with a livelier medina.
It takes about 15 minutes to drive to the town beach from Rabat Airport. Parking is similar to that in Rabat, with plenty of on-street spaces for experienced parallel parkers. We recommend choosing accommodation with parking included. You may want to speak to the hotel first to ensure that the parking lot is on-site, and not just a permit for a nearby place.
Stylish, wealthy, and cosmopolitan, Casablanca is a fast-paced city packed with cultural and historic attractions.
If you can't find cheap flights to Casablanca, Rabat Airport is the perfect alternative. The famous city is only an hour and 20 minutes drive from the airport. Car parking is available on street. When you park a guard will approach you: they will have an ID card and a blue uniform. Expect to pay 1-2 Moroccan Dirham (about 6-13p) for an hour, and 10 Moroccan Dirham (about 66p) overnight.
