Driving around Cairns Airport
Cairns downtown is located just 10 minutes from the airport, some 6 kilometres, and can be accessed through Airport Avenue and National Route 1. The access roads as mentioned do not have toll requirements, so it is relatively easy to reach. Upon arrival to Cairns, travellers will be faced with light to moderate traffic, with major streets such as Anderson, Route 91, A1, and Bruce Highway, almost always clear during the day.
Travellers will also notice the abundance of parks, reserves, and green patches around the city – which is common for Cairns. Parking spaces are available within the facility of the airport, or outside along National Route 1. Home to the Daintree National Park, Daintree is the solution to your inner desire to enjoy Mother Earth. Nearby the park are a few beaches, which can be a quick detour before trekking around the parks.
Daintree is 110 kilometres away from central Cairns and can be covered within an hour and a half. Just drive and follow National Route 1 and State Route 44 towards Captain Cook Highway in Bonnie Doon, then take Mossman-Daintree Road to Stewart Street to reach Daintree.

From central Cairns, follow National Route 1, Mulligan Highway and State Route 81 towards Captain Cook Highway in Bonnie Doon. From there, take Mossman and Daintree Road to Cape Tribulation Road, and park the car in one of the parking facilities there. From Cape Tribulation Road, ride a ferry to Forest Creek to reach the main area of Cape Tribulation. The trip towards the ferry terminal will cover about 200 kilometres under three hours, while the boat ride will cover at least 30 minutes.
