Officially known as the Republic of Seychelles, Seychelles is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean. As a country that consists of 115 islands, it is 1,500 kilometres east of mainland Southeast Africa with countries and territories such as Zanzibar, Comoros, Mayotte, Madagascar, Réunion, and Mauritius within the immediate surroundings of the country. With a population of approximately 90,000, the country has the smallest population of any African state. Seychelles is also home the Aldabra Giant Tortoise, some of the largest seabird colonies in the world, and more over 1,000 species of fish.
How to get around Seychelles
Charter helicopter flights can be arranged to travel between most of the inner and outer islands of Seychelles. It is also possible to travel from one island to another via ferries or even small boats. As for travelling within the islands, Seychelles Public Transport Corporation provides frequent bus services on Mahé and Praslin. Taxis are also available, for trips between two locations or for day rental. Travellers who want more independence and flexibility can rent vehicles on Mahé and Praslin; just remember that driving is on the left side of the road and, though traffic is low, the roads are mountainous and narrow so always drive with caution.

The airport is served by the airlines Air Austral, Air France, Air Seychelles, Condor, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad, Kenya Airways, Maldivian, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Sri Lankan Airlines, and Transaero Airlines. Departures are from Réunion, Abu Dhabi, Antananarivo, Bangkok, Chennai, Dar es Salaam, Johannesburg, Mauritius, Mumbai, Frankfurt, Dubai, Addis Ababa, Male, Muscat, Doha, and Colombo. No visa is required for all nationalities, but foreign travellers must be able to present proof of accommodation bookings prior to arrival. Those without pre-booked accommodations will be compelled book their lodging at the airport before they are allowed to leave.
