Kampala is almost impossible to miss and is the center of political and NGO activity in Uganda. Rolling hills and ample greenery give it some charm but the heavy traffic and lack of tourist sights make a day or two here plenty.

The Pearl of Africa - Uganda The republic of Uganda is a beautiful landlocked country in East Africa, well known for its natural beauty and friendly inhabitants. Bordering Kenya, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Tanzania, the country has faced many challenges such as civil unrests and poverty, yet the splendor of it's settings and enterprising spirit of it's people still shines through. The Eco-system and climate of Uganda: Uganda takes its name from the Buganda Kingdom, which encompassed a portion of the South of the country including the capital Kampala. Due to its unspoilt natural resources which see the meeting of the East African Savannah and West African jungle, Uganda is a popular tourist destination. Although generally equatorial, Uganda's climate varies due to the altitude differences in the country. Southern Uganda tends to be wetter throughout the year, while a dry season gradually emerges to the north towards Gulu and its driest and almost drought stricken region of Karamoja. Some of Uganda's major attractions include the source of the Nile at Jinja, the rainforests with its mountain Gorilla population, the biggest lake in Africa, Lake Victoria in the South of the country, the snow-capped peaks of Rwenzori, the Virunga Volcanoes, and the Murchison falls among many others.
