Varberg Fortress – where the wind carries stories from the past

Varberg Fortress stands proudly on the rocks as if it has always been there – and in a way it has. Here you are met by winds that carry echoes of the Middle Ages, salt-sprinkled waves crashing against the walls and a view that makes time stop.
Walking around the fortress is like walking through history itself. The old stones, the winding paths and the rhythm of the sea create a sense of both calm and respect. I stayed long at the cannons and just listened – to the wind, to the sea, to the silence of the place.
It is an experience that feels as much in the heart as in the legs.
A place that reminds you that history is not only in the books – it is here, in the wind over the sea.

Very nice stay with magical views! Highly recommended! Very nice staff, clean room, wonderful surroundings and interesting tour inside the museum!

Bra B&B.

Cozy place with quite ok rooms and beds. Located nice and good with close to most things. Very good breakfast. Clean and tidy in toilets, showers and rooms. Nice staff both at check-in and Check-out and at breakfast.

Fortress on the harbor

This impressive fortress can be visited freely, although it is more beautiful from the outside. Inside there is a museum that is difficult to visit due to its absurd hours. On Sundays it opens from noon to five in the afternoon. Having come in the morning we gave up.

Really ubique. Great hosts!

Stayed here for one night with the kids. Really unique and interesting. Much more memorable than a hotel. Amazing location and views. So much to explore in and around the B&B for the kids. Beach, playground, parks, skatepark and of course a huge castle!
Our room was warm and cosy and the history of the place made it a real adventure for the kids.
The host even gave us a mini tour of the old prison which was really cool. Very friendly and welcoming.
Highly recommend for families wanting something more interesting than a standard hotel.
