A nice little city on the coast which I visited in the winter. The weather I experienced gave the town an interesting perspective but I'd like to come back to visit in the summer. I'd also like to visit the Kallbadhuset when it's open.
A cute beach town just before you hit Gothenburg by train. Varberg, captures the needs of the tired traveler who wishes to take a break at a recluse spa or the Swedish summer sun lover who wants to hang out in the outdoor sauna and ladies bath houses. Great for women to bond, or men too, but I don't truly know where the male bathing spots are to be frank. Take a bike ride through the city, check out the lighthouse, and most importantly, open yourself up to a semi-sleepy town with true Swedish charm and great swedish meatballs at local restaurants.
Varberg is no metropol and the city center is not amazing, but it has a nice cozy harbour area with outdoor eating in the summer, and Varberg Castle is a must see if you are in the area.
